Beaches in Zadar
are mostly situated on the northern side of town in the Borik zone, as well as along the city center in the Kolovare and Arbanasi area. Taking into consideration that Zadar is a relatively big city it still has good quality beaches and it is possible to “take a dip in city center”, which is uncommon for coastal urban areas. We should also mention its monument to sea cleanliness and summer sports - the annual “millennium jump”. It is an attraction that takes place every July when thousands of enthusiasts dive into the sea from the waterfront of Zadar city center.
Borik
is a mixed gravel/sand beach north from town. Its occupants are mostly hotel guests, but it is open to everyone else as well. The beach contains an acquapark, a few bars and it is possible to rent out water sport's equipment.
Diklo
stretches north from Borik along gravely and concrete coves which are perfect for throwing down your towel and taking a spontaneous swim.
Kolovare
is the name of the city zone south from city center. Along these 2 km of beach you can take your pick between smaller or bigger coves and beaches, which are excellent for swimming. If tired of the sun you can rest in one of the bars or terraces. The most imminent beach in the zone is the one next to the Kolovare hotel, it's a perfect blend of sand and gravel with an excellent sea entrance. Along the latter you can find shelter in café bars, and parking is not a problem even at high season. The beach also offers deck chair rentals.
Bazen
(pool) is a part of Kolovare, specific for its “sea swimming pool” (naturally, containing sea water), home of the local water-polo team and other natives. The attractive position is supplemented with a 10 m high diving board.
Punta Bajlo
is a beach of a “rocky” type approachable by a boardwalk that continues along the sea until the “south peninsula” in the Arbanasi area.
Vitrenjak
is a beach located in the “uskok” marina and is one of the beaches suitable for vacationing with children. On the beach you can find shelter from the heat in a local café bar and there is a small playground for children. Part of the beach is adjusted for the handicapped.
Puntamika
is a gravely beach next to the Lanterna lighthouse from which you can enjoy the view of the old city core and town belfries.
